LiveWell Training
Join a LiveWell™ Virtual Learning Collaborative
The LiveWell™ Virtual Learning Collaboratives bring staff from multiple communities together over a twelve-week period to learn and practice the foundations of quality improvement. Participants use the LiveWell Method™ to attract and retain staff and to improve the quality of life for residents, staff, families, and visitors. The LiveWell™ Method is the State of Oregon’s endorsed method to achieve Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI).
Our approach is discussion-based, focused on peer learning, with coaches as instructors who help teams create their own ongoing practice of quality improvement. The sixteen-week foundational course emphasizes leadership development and three core practices: 1) The Huddle during every shift; 2) Creating and using community quality boards, and 3) Closely monitoring resident status.
Our Summer Virtual Learning Collaboratives is currently full, but you can still sign up for the Fall 2023 cohort

Why Do LiveWell?
To improve the quality of life for staff and residents: LiveWell tools strengthen teamwork. They track and measure what isn’t going well – like infections, falls, medication errors, and staff callouts. They help organize the physical environment to improve the safety and well-being of staff and residents. They help communicate effectively to staff, residents, families, and others about COVID-19, wildfires, or anything else. They create a safer community and enhance the dignity of all:
Falls decreased 27% in LiveWell pilot communities
Medication errors decreased 65% in LiveWell pilot communities
Workplace injuries decreased 80% in LiveWell pilot communities
To attract and retain staff: LiveWell creates a positive and caring environment that builds morale and enhances dignity, making LiveWell communities desirable places to work.
Staff turnover decreased 60% in LiveWell pilot communities
Unplanned staff absence decreased 61% in LiveWell pilot communities
To reduce costs: In 2017-2019, LiveWell pilot communities saved at least $10,600 by avoiding falls, $8,300 by avoiding staff absences, and $117,000 by avoiding staff separations. That’s an average total annual savings of $135,900.
To demonstrate a provider’s commitment to quality, which in turn:
Improves sales and marketing
Builds community and brand loyalty
To create a community of LiveWell practitioners: The LiveWell network provides many ways for staff and administrators to connect and learn from one another

Oregon’s QAPI, endorsed by the State: The LiveWell Method is Oregon’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) method for assisted living and residential care facilities. The State of Oregon licensed LiveWell in 2015 and has supported its rollout to nearly 100 communities since.
